In the Bible, there is a great example of persistence in prayer that provides a valuable lesson for us to learn.
It is about a blind man who was sitting near the entrance of the city of Jericho and as Jesus was about to enter the city, he began calling the name of Jesus to help him. He kept on calling louder and louder each time and even when he was rebuked by the crowd and was told to “hold his peace”, but he still continued calling until Jesus heard him and stopped. Well, as a result of his persistence, he received his sight.
Now, let’s read in Luke 18:38-42 about this awesome story: “38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace but he cried so much the more, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto Him: and when he was come near, He asked him, 41 Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. 42 And Jesus said unto him, receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee”.
Do you see, when we pray with persistence, God answers our prayers because it shows that we have faith!
And so what is the challenge (s) you are facing today? If Jesus is your Lord don’t despair because God is on your side. With persistence, tell Jesus in prayer about the difficulties you are facing and He will answer your prayer because He LOVES YOU! But if Jesus is not your God, you must first make the effort to repent and believe in Him that He is the Son of God.
If you do that, not only He will be right there, next to you in difficult times, but He will provide you with the Way to heaven.
